Here’s to what’s good for us!
Let’s go places!
After being at home for so long, many of us are longing to go places, to travel to places they’ve not been to for such a long time. We experience so much more in life when we are out and about. One of the hardest parts of the last year for me was the limitations on travel.
Strange as it sounds, I like GOING to work. I like GOING to the train station. I like GOING to visit places. It’s not just the physical displacement of me from one location to another. It’s the experience of being amongst others. We see people on the train. We see people at work. We see people at different shops that we visit. We see places that give us a lift and help our mental wellbeing. Travel is good for us.
Safe travel is good for us. We wouldn’t want to go to work somewhere that had been condemned as not safe. We wouldn’t want to go on a rickety old train that may come off the rails. We wouldn’t want to visit cafes and coffee shops that had a low health and safety rating. We wouldn’t want to visit places that made us more anxious or nervous for our safety. One thing that I am looking forward to being safe once again in the big wide world. Being safe is good for us.
People and friends
Traveling places, safely, to see other people, is definitely a big thing that I am looking forward to doing when we are allowed to. If I look back on some of my fondest memories over my many years, it is the visiting people and spending time with people I don’t see all the time that give me a good boost. I’m very fortunate to have some good friends in quite a few places around the country. I would like to spend time with them, even if it is a night out or a meal, or catching up over a drink somewhere.
I may even take a selfie or two along the way. Do you remember Selfie Sunday?! Being around other people is going to be such a great feeling this year. So much to catch up on and to share memories and experiences. Other people’s company is good for us.
All this sounds promising?
As the world starts to become more safe, and we can travel more, and we can see a wider range of people, there will be the realisation that there are good things in the world. It has been so tough for so many, and I for one want to be able to be there for more people, to help bring a smile to the faces of others, and to bring some more happiness to others. After all, happiness is undeniably good for us.
