Many of us underthink ourselves
- You know more than you think you know
- You’re admired more than you think you are
- You’ve achieved more than you think you have
- You’ve learned more than you think you have
- You are more than you think you are.
So why is that the case? We tend to play down ourselves too much. I’m not suggesting shouting from the rooftops everything you do. Apart from anything, going on rooftops as an untrained person isn’t the wisest thing to do.
No, what I am suggesting is that we quietly take stock of where we are, what we have done, how far we have come, and reflect on that.
I’m not suggesting we drastically change how we are with other people or to start being arrogant and brash. No, I’m suggesting we give ourselves a little more credit.
Being more effective
We can slowly reduce those incidents of self-doubt. We can look to irradiate thoughts that don’t tally with what you know isn’t the truth. We can be more confident in who we are and be more effective at being that person. Others probably think highly of you already. It’s time we thought well of ourselves too. It’s time to shine your light on you.
As we start the new year, start a new inward view of yourself too. You may see what others see then – the you that others admire, learn from, take hope from, and want to be around.
Over to you!
