If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.
I bought this print a few years ago. It says ‘If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.’
It is a quote from Confucius, the Chinese philosopher. Whilst some miss the meaning by taking this literally, the intent is that if you are surrounded by those who inspire you to strive for excellence, and to strive for more learning, then that is much more beneficial than not being stretched, and not in a position to learn.
When we open up possibilities through learning, listening, and longing for different aspects and approaches, we broaden not only our mindset and experiences, but also enrich ourselves and others by this process.
Through our learning, we are able to offer more to others and to have greater insight into the thought process of those we look to, and up to.
